The Name Game

As you can see, the blog has gone through some changes--new look and a new name. It was really hard to think of a different name for the blog (especially when so many are already taken!). I think we will try this out for a while and see if I like it. Hopefully all of you will like it, too!

And speaking of names...we are ready to announce our little girl's name! While we have been pretty set for quite a while now on her first name, her middle name proved to be more challenging. Fortunately (or unfortunately--however you choose to look at it), Chase and I like different styles of names. So, after reading through our extensive book on baby names, looking at online blogs, etc., we had a VERY condensed list of names that we both liked. Which, all in all, made it easier to pick one! We really wanted to use a family name for her middle name and after much thought and consideration, we have made a decision.

Our daughter's name is:

Violet Lane

Lane is in honor of Chase's dad, Stan, and sister, Niki, who both share the middle name Lane. We love them both very much and are so excited for Vi to get to meet them in a few more months!

Already, her name just seems to fit. I can't wait to see how much more she 'becomes' her name once she gets here.

Yesterday, we had our 28 week appointment. I am officially in the 3rd trimester! So far, everything is still going well-aside from the occasional and normal (as the doctor assured me) foot/ankle swelling. I had to take the Glucose Screening Test at this appointment (which everyone takes and screens for gestational diabetes), but won't have the results for a few more days. Hopefully, I will have passed with flying colors and won't have to take the more in-depth test.

Here are a couple of ultrasound pictures from her 25 week appointment:

My favorite! You can see her little nostrils and parted lips.

There is so much pressure to pick a good name for your children. So many things to consider--trends, initials, hidden meanings, etc. It's a lot of responsibility! Hopefully Violet will love her name as much as we do.

Love to everyone! Thanks for reading!

  1. I really like the name! We have friends in Little Rock who have two little girls, and one is Violet, and the other is Posey!
